I want to see a miracle.  Well, first we need to define some scientific terms.

miraculous object:  something produced by God that requires that God act contrary to the laws of nature; (Jesus walking on the water was a “miraculous object.”  Natural law says that if you attempt to walk on liquid water you will begin to sink.  A miracle is the production of a miraculous object by God.)

supernatural object:  anything produced by God and/or one or more of his nonhuman, nonanimal created beings; (An angel is one example of a nonhuman, nonanimal created being.  The world of created things, except for acts of the will, is comprised of nothing but supernatural objects.)

fantastic object:  any experienced thing, except an act of the will, not directly or indirectly produced by God; (These are imaginary things.  Most people would say that a loaf of bread is a “fantastic object.”)

realistic object:  any experienced thing directly or indirectly produced by God; (A loaf of bread sitting on your kitchen table is a realistic object and so is one of the loaves of bread that Jesus created to help feed the multitude.)

natural object:  a realistic object (see definition above) that you believe is a fantastic object (see definition above); (Most people would say that everything they see is a natural object.)

Now, let us look at the relationships between these five types of “objects.”  Note the following diagram:

Supernatural objects include all other types of  “objects.”  Naturals objects exist in two worlds - the world of fantastic objects and the world of realistic objects.  The world of fantastic objects is a part of the world of the mind.  The world of realistic objects is a part of the world of supernatural objects.  The world of miraculous objects exists in three worlds – the world of fantastic objects, the world of natural objects, and the world of realistic objects.

We will return to the diagram shortly.

When you say you want a miracle what you really mean is that “you want to see one or more miraculous objects that you know are miraculous objects.”  But why do you want to see a miracle?  That is, why do you want to see one or more miraculous objects that you know are miraculous objects?  The answer, usually, is that you need relief from a heavy burden.  So, then, technically, what you want (and need) is what a miracle can do for you.  We call this “the impact of a miracle.”  This impact is (usually) the relief from the heavy burden.

Now, what if you could get relief from the heavy burden WITHOUT THE MIRACLE?  Would you care?  No!

Can you get relief from the heavy burden without the miracle?  Yes!

While it is true that God performs miracles, it is also true that, at times, GOD PROVIDES THE IMPACT OF MIRACLES WITHOUT MIRACLES.  At such times, even though no miracle has occurred, people often declare “That was a miracle!”  Why do people say this when no miracle has occurred?  It is because, at the moment, all they care about is that something was produced by God.  They don’t care that God did not act contrary to the laws of nature.  When one needs relief from a heavy burden, what they care about is that God produce what is needed.  They don’t care whether he acted contrary to the laws of nature or not.  It is the belief that God produced what was needed that produces relief from a heavy burden, the impact of a miracle.

Returning to our diagram, the normal order of things is for us to see things as fantastic objects (see definition above).  Actually, they are realistic objects (see definition above).  When you need relief from a heavy burden and only a miracle will do, in most cases, God provides the impact of a miracle without a miracle.  He does this through the belief that he has produced what was needed.  In most cases, God provides this belief through natural objects (see definition above).  Note that a natural object is a type of supernatural object (see definition above).  At the right time, God will provide relief (the impact of a miracle [the effect of the belief that he has produced what was needed]).
